Profile Music has always been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. There were always instruments around the house to play and learn on. As a child, I was enrolled in lessons at an area music studio where I became an assistant instructor by my early teens. During my high school years, I was a member of my high school concert band, a military marching band and played keyboard in a local pop band. From my youth to late 30's I have performed with some fine area musicians for various establishments and events, which has been a valuable social and musical experience for me. I have also enjoyed performing as a soloist. In addition to guitar and keyboard, my musical interests have included violin, cello, saxophone, drums, piano accordion, vibraphone and glockenspiel. I have had some excellent instructors and I continue to study today as I believe learning is a never ending process. I began teaching part-time in 1991 and by 1993 had established a successful full time, home based, career business known as "Joseph's Guitar Studio". With a musical background of more than 40 years, I offer instruction in classical, traditional guitar and basic piano. With enjoyable, easy methods, my students learn to play and understand important elements of music. I teach year-round, with lessons given weekly and fees payable monthly. Lessons are provided in my home and at selected area schools. To motivate and enrich the learning experience, students may participate in optional, free, fun, non-competitive recitals and Web showcase recordings. If you wish to discuss lessons please give me a call at 613-498-3287 or drop me an e-mail at info@guitarstudio.ca. Joe Larocque |
